Umair this might be your hackiest hack job yet.
You’ve of course cherry picked statistics and then of course, come to non-sequitur conclusions.
Folks, if you think Umair’s charts support his conclusions, ask yourself: do you know anything about statistics? Have you taken a single class on statistics? Can you, without looking it up, even calculate percentages with pencil and paper?
No serious statistician would look at these compiled charts and come to any kind of conclusion, let alone that America is a failed state.
For one, the US has continued to ramp up testing — at a faster rate than any other country. If you don’t believe me (and you shouldn’t! Just like you shouldn’t believe Umair when he spits up bile onto the internet) here’s the data: https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/full-list-cumulative-total-tests-per-thousand
You’ll note that the US has spiked its testing at a faster rate in just the past few weeks. More testing = more cases.
Umair’s claim that the US should have only had 10,000 deaths from COVID also doesn’t make any sense. The projection was that the US would have easily over 1 million deaths. You might frame a 150k death rate as a complete win given that projection. It makes you suspect that any number of deaths would have served Umair’s thesis that the US is a failed state full of awful people.
I could do an even deeper dive showing why Umair’s rambling screed is further unsupported, but let’s take a step back.
Umair has not even mentioned one of the biggest potential vectors of further COVID cases, which is the fact that for over 2 weeks (well past the incubation period) our biggest cities have been filled with protesters.
Of course these protesters are also among the people that Umair might enlist to usher in his socialist, new world order paradise. So he’s in a pickle: he can’t really criticize them, but he does have to keep hammering away about America’s unique badness.
Instead? He does the same thing he always does when his narrative doesn’t jibe with reality: he ignores the part that conflicts with his thesis. Umair, if I was grading your post, I’d have to give it an F, again.
You don’t support your statement and you ignore facts that conflict with your thesis. Weak — and transparent.
