Umair, people are desperate to go back to work. They’re not being “forced” to do so by Trump or anyone else. You either don’t understand that Trump isn’t in charge of individual state-shut downs, or you purposely ignored that fact to write this drivel.
If you actually thought of the millions of wage earners who are NOT earning a living right now for just one moment, you would realize the absurdity of pretending to care for people while slowly destroying their standard of living.
At this point, all data shows that the virus is nowhere near the worst case scenario outlined by the “experts.” That worse case scenario is what precipitated the shut down int he first place. Now we know that the virus was already circulating pretty much everywhere by the end of December at the latest. Data in many states shows that the peak in cases likely occurred in Mid-march, sometime around when the shutdown began…
Since the worst case scenario did not occur, that means we should change our approach to dealing with this virus. We might forgive an overly aggressive shutdown order when the information is unclear, but when we get new information, we should let it dictate policy, not the same (increasingly incorrect) worst-case fear mongering.
Moreover, your claim that deaths will skyrocket is a complete guess. It’s just armchair, rich-person finger wagging at people who actually NEED to work.
And it’s a bit rich to act like people won’t go back to engaging in commerce because they’re scared — after you and people like you have been supporting a narrative clearly intended to scare the shit out of people.
