Ukraine is a vassal state and Zelensky is a State Department employee. That's very obvious if you've paid attention at all not just to Z's early career and ascension, but especially the way in which this war with Russia has played out. You might expect a leader to want to avoid massive bloodshed and the destruction of his country - and to pursue peace with a neighbor they can not hope to defeat militarily. Instead, Z has been instructed to prevent and avoid peace, because the State dept hates Russia more than it loves Ukraine. They'll bleed every last Ukrainian and burn every city if it means Putin gets a hangnail.
