Most humans are not on edge all of the time. We all have our bad moments… but all day on edge? As a very armchair psychologist, this is a warning sign that you have some kind of trauma you need to work through with a professional. It’s not the normal human condition.
I have also had the experience of cashiers and store employees trying to insert themselves in my check out process, unnecessarily. Until I got it replaced, my credit card’s chip would simply not work, which meant I had to swipe my card — and the magnetic strip was damaged as well. Which meant I had to swipe it 4 or 5 times sometimes.
Almost every time I bought groceries, some “helpful” employee would see me swiping and admonish me to use the chip reader. “Thanks! I know! My chip isn’t working!” Or they’d walk me through trying the chip first, then the swipe… like I was a child.
It’s annoying the first time. It grows less appealing every time after.
Some people at grocery stores are just aggressively, annoyingly helpful. Unless there was some other clue, it seems unlikely they were helping you because of the R word.
