If Women Gave Men Honest Dating Advice

Women don’t know what other women want, and that should be okay to admit.

I used to misunderstand the expression, “There’s no accounting for taste.”

Despite both my father and my youngest sister working in the accounting field, I thought that “accounting” in this expression was a general term, like how sometimes you can’t account for your car keys or your behavior.

When I came to understand the expression actually means that there is no agreed upon system of rules, debits and credits that can meaningfully explain and qualify someone’s taste in food, clothing or sexual preference, the saying became much more meaningful.

I like that there’s no accounting for taste.

I know the expression is usually used as a subtle jab at someone’s eccentric choices, but I prefer to see it as a liberating quality of human life.

You might level this expression at my wife after meeting both of us. It certainly came to my mind when she expressed interest in dating me. Really? Me? Huh.

There is no accounting for taste, and so you really can’t make very plausible assumptions about the compatibility of any two people.
