I was once surfing through some HGTV by way of pinterest slideshow of “terrible dated decor” for no single good reason, only to find a DEAD ringer for a room in my house, complete with an identical dining room table and chairs, the same plain moulding around doorways, the same layout, the same lighting, a similar cabinet in the corner, etc.

Actually, the HGTV photo looked better than my house. I saved it, both because of how close it looks to my house (is there a camera behind me?) and as a reminder that I have no interest or control in what some internet strangers think of my design flair.

Of course a 2nd hand table in a house that my wife and I are constantly working on is a little different than a wedding dress…

But you could (and people do) frame any choice in (literally) bad light. For one, whoever took that picture with your face scribbled out is a bad photographer. Your actual wedding photos are stunning. Turn up the saturation and contrast on any photo and it might look unappealing.
