Also: you have to remember that because the geniuses at the DNC dragged their feet for so long, only Harris was able to legally use the substantial campaign finance warchest amassed for Biden. Any other candidate would have had to start from zero money AND start late.

Harris was the only viable candidate, really - but only because the DNC tricked themselves into backing a guy they knew was senile until they realized everyone else knew too.

Remember, they would have gone with Biden if he didn't fumble so badly at the debate. They would have elected him knowing he was completely done, cognitively - because whoever was actually in charge was fine with it.
